Dow in Germany Among Best Workplaces in Europe

Midland, MI - May 30, 2008

Dow in Germany has been recognized as one of the best workplaces in Europe. Listed in the European ranking for the first time, Dow in Germany made it to the top 25 large companies, building on the second place the company won in the Best Workplace in Germany ranking earlier this year. The list of the Best Workplaces in Europe is based on the 15 national Best Workplaces studies all around Europe, and the winners have been selected from about 1,250 companies surveyed.

Reflecting on the recognition Markus Wildi, president Dow Europe said: “Being named one of the Greatest Places to Work in Europe is an enormous and well-deserved compliment to all Dow people in Germany. This is what our Human Element is all about. Together, at all levels in the organization, our colleagues in Germany have built a culture of trust, pride and camaraderie that has earned them this recognition. This is a culture to be proud of and one that I hope will continue to prosper, in Germany and at our many other European locations.”

“We are proud to be recognized as one of the best workplace in Europe. It proves that our philosophy of treating the employee as an individual and focusing on individual needs is the right way forward,” said Johanna Söderström, HR director for Dow Germany, who accepted the recognition at the award ceremony in London.

The Great Place to Work® Institute, who compiles the list of European winners, defines a great place to work as one “where the employees trust the people they work for, have pride in what they do, and enjoy the people they work with”. The final scores for each company are largely dependent on in-depth interviews with employees.
