Dr. Catherine Baase, global director of Health Services for The Dow Chemical Company, was honored yesterday by the National Business Group on Health (NBGH) with the 2009 Award for Excellence and Innovation in Value Purchasing. Baase was one of two recipients to receive the award which is the highest honor given by the organization each year.
“Dr. Baase is highly regarded by her colleagues both inside and outside of Dow for her leadership in corporate health strategy and implementation for both the protection and enhancement of health” comments Neil Hawkins, Dow vice president of EH&S/Sustainability. “Her dedication to the successful implementation of Dow’s Health Strategy - along with her contributions to her profession and the field of public health - makes her a worthy recipient of this prestigious award.”
The NBGH, a non-profit association of more than 300 mostly large employers, annually recognizes individuals, organizations or programs that encourage the efficient use of health care resources in addition to improving quality and affordability.
Baase has been instrumental in driving Dow’s integrated approach to health focusing on the four elements of Dow’s Health Strategy namely prevention, quality and effectiveness, health care system management and advocacy.
