Anne Wallin, director of Sustainable Chemistry and Life Cycle Analysis, was recently appointed as a member of California’s new Green Ribbon Science Panel. This advisory panel was created for California’s Green Chemistry program, an innovative approach to removing or reducing toxic chemicals from products sold in California.
The Green Ribbon Science Panel was established out of two landmark Green Chemistry laws signed last year by California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Wallin will be joining 26 scientific and policy experts who will advise the Department of Toxic Substance Control (DTSC) on scientific and policy matters related to DTSC’s implementation of California’s new Green Chemistry laws, AB 1879 and SB 509.
“Anne’s appointment to the Green Ribbon Science Panel will help guide California to develop sustainable solutions for Green Chemistry, based on a strong, scientific foundation,” said Neil Hawkins, vice president of Sustainability. “Anne’s expertise in Sustainable Chemistry provides a great platform for Anne to make a significant contribution.”
The initial meeting of the Green Ribbon Science Panel will be held later this month.
