Expanding into the Japanese Pharmaceutical Market

In April 2009, Dow made its first formal entry into the Japanese pharmaceutical market with an exhibit at CPhI-Japan.

In conjunction with Colorcon, a key distributor, and under the banner of the Controlled-Release Alliance, Dow Wolff Cellulosics officially brought its world-leading pharmaceutical excipients to the home base of its largest competitor. For more information about excipients in controlled releases, visit the Dow Wolff Cellulosics podcast.

Supporting the Controlled-Release Alliance

Dow Wolff Cellulosics controlled release systems are designed to allow pharmaceutical companies to deliver medication over extended periods of time - reducing the need for more frequent dosing and improving patient adherence and compliance. Products offered through the Alliance include ETHOCEL™ ethylcellulose polymers, METHOCEL™ cellulose ethers and POLYOX™ water-soluble resins.

The Controlled-Release Alliance was formed to provide greater access to these products by combining the reach of both Dow and Colorcon in all global markets. In addition, the combined technological skills of both companies are utilized by customers to develop new solutions to the delivery of oral medications.
