Notification of Flaring from Dow Operation

Sarnia, Ontario - August 01, 2006

Dow Canada’s Hydrocarbon Storage & Distribution facility located at Sarnia on Highway 40 between LaSalle Line and Petrolia Line will be performing maintenance and inspection work for re-certification on one of its hydrocarbon storage wells. The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources requires the re-certification to be done once every 8 years.

The recently commenced work is expected to be completed in approximately four weeks, and will include the depressuring and flaring of a propane storage cavern, which is necessary to ensure safe working conditions for the crews during the work.

Beginning this week and the week of August 7, there may be more flaring than usual with some smoke visible on the east side of Highway 40.
