Proposal Numbers Narrowed for Dow Sarnia Legacy Project

Sarnia, ON - September 27, 2007

The number of proposals being considered by The Dow Chemical Company and Dow Chemical Canada Inc. (together “Dow”) for its Sarnia Legacy Project has been narrowed to six.

The community steering committee, consisting of Dow employees, retirees and local residents, has concluded its evaluation of the initial 30 submissions and has recommended the following proposals for further consideration by the Dow’s corporate review team:

Child and Youth Development Centre

Goodwill Industries – Essex Kent Lambton

Goodwill/Community Centre

Pathways Health Centre for Children

Community Therapeutic Acquatic Centre

Sarnia, City of

Centennial Park Expansion/Improvements

St. Joseph’s Health Care Society

St. Joseph’s Residential Hospice

United Way of Sarnia-Lambton

Investment Fund

In the second stage of the selection process, a team of senior representatives from Dow and the Sarnia site will meet with each finalist organization vying for the company’s $500,000 to $1-million Dow Sarnia Legacy Project donation. The winning project is expected to be announced by the end of 2007, or early in 2008.

The Dow Sarnia Legacy Project is Dow’s gift to the community to recognize its over 65-year history of local operations. Dow came to Sarnia in 1942 in response to an invitation from the Canadian government to help manufacture synthetic rubber for the war effort. The Sarnia site was the company’s first manufacturing location outside of the United States.
