Dow Announces Price Increase for Propylene Glycols
Raw Material and Energy Prices Continue to Escalate

Midland, MI - October 14, 2005

The Dow Chemical Company will increase all list and off-list prices by $0.02/lb in the Americas and the Caribbean, effective November 1, 2005. This increase is in addition to the previously announced increase of $ 0.08/lb, effective October 15, 2005.

The products to which this price increase applies are: propylene glycol industrial grade (PGI), propylene glycol USP/EP grade (PG USP/EP), dipropylene glycol grade (DPG), dipropylene glycol LO+ grade (DPG LO+), tripropylene glycol regular grade (TPG), and tripropylene glycol acrylate grade (TPG AG).

"Prices for raw materials and natural gas, essential to the production of propylene glycols, continue to escalate" said Antulio Borneo, Commercial Director, Dow Oxides & Glycols. "The continued, rapidly rising costs associated with these factors necessitate this further price increase."

The company continues its Force Majeure status for propylene glycols, which it declared as a result of the impact of Hurricane Katrina. Dow's Plaquemine, Louisiana and Freeport, Texas propylene glycols operations were interrupted by preparations for Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, respectively. Both propylene glycols plants are currently operating.

"Though propylene glycols production at our U.S. Gulf Coast plants has been restored, the availability of natural gas and raw materials and complications associated with transportation services resulting from the hurricanes continue" Borneo said. "These factors continue to inhibit and disrupt supply".
