Dow Announces Price Increase for Epoxy Resins and Epichlorohydrin in Asia Pacific

Hong Kong - October 17, 2005

Effective November 1, 2005 or as contract terms allow, the Epoxy Products and Intermediates (EP&I) business of The Dow Chemical Company will increase prices for its epoxy resins and epichlorohydrin sold in the Asia Pacific region.

Prices for liquid epoxy resins will be increased by US$100/MT, and US$70/MT for all other grades of epoxy resins in the Asia Pacific region. In Japan, prices will be increased by Yen 20/kg for liquid epoxy resins and Yen 15/kg for all other grades.

Dow will also increase prices of epichlorohydrin by US$150/MT for the whole Asia Pacific region except Japan. This is in addition to the price increases announced on September 15, 2005 for the whole Asia Pacific.

Dow said the increase is driven by various factors, including additional increases in feedstock and energy prices, as well as difficulties in transporting key raw materials due to the combined impact of Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita in North America.

Customers interested in learning more about the price increase should contact their local Dow sales representative.
