Dow Europe GmbH (“Dow”) announced today that it will increase capacity of its DOW™ Latex Powders (DLP) Redispersible Polymer Powder products. The expansion will take place at Dow’s manufacturing site in Schkopau, Germany, and further demonstrates Dow's ongoing commitment to the construction polymers industry. The additional manufacturing capability is expected to be available by first quarter of 2008.
“This expansion basically doubles our capacity and will enable us to better serve our customers globally,” said Marty Kollmeyer, global business director for DOW™ Latex Powders. “An expansion of this size is an important investment in our product portfolio, especially as the demand for construction chemicals continues to grow.”
According to Kollmeyer, “The demand for redispersible polymer powder products has been particularly strong in Europe and North America. When planning future expansions, we will consider additional site possibilities, such as those in the United States, which may present interesting technology and integration potential.”
The capacity expansion for DLP products follows the 2005 announcement of global expansion plans for METHOCEL™ Cellulose Ethers, another important product for the construction polymers industry. “As our expansion for METHOCEL™ products continues to progress, we are in a better position to provide a wide range of solutions to the construction industry,” Kollmeyer added. “Our technical staff has the expertise to help customers develop products that maximize the combined benefits of METHOCEL™ and DLP products.”
