Dow to Raise Prices of Oxygenated Solvents Products

Midland, MI - August 10, 2006

The Dow Chemical Company announced today that it will raise list and off-list prices on a number of its Oxygenated Solvents products in North America effective September 1, 2006, or as contracts allow.  This increase has been made necessary by the continuing rise in raw material and energy costs and the need to restore margins to reinvestment levels.

“The relentless rise and on-going volatility in feedstock and energy costs remains our most difficult challenge,” says Martin Sutcliffe, global business director, Glycol Ethers. “Absorbing even-higher costs for oil, natural gas and their derivatives is simply not an option.”

“While we are mindful of the impact of these higher prices on our customers, this price increase is necessary for us to continue to reinvest in the business and grow along with our customers,” says Pat Gottschalk, global business director, Solvents & Intermediates.
