Dow Announces Price Increase for METHOCEL™ Cellulose Ethers

Midland, MI - October 16, 2006

The Dow Chemical Company (“Dow”) is increasing prices globally for METHOCEL™ cellulose ethers for construction applications by 4 to 8 percent, depending on grade and market, effective November 15, 2006 or as contracts allow.

“This increase is necessary to partially offset the rise in raw material and energy costs over the last two years,” said Marty Kollmeyer, global business director.  “In addition, it will also enable us to continue to invest in the development of new products and technologies, and supply expansions in support of the construction polymers market .”
