Horgen, Switzerland - November 20, 2007
Due to unprecedented increases in raw material costs, Dow Polyglycols and Surfactants has announced an increase of Euro 100/MT for grades CARBOWAX™ PEG 200E, PEG 300E, PEG 400E PEG 600E in Europe and India, Middle East and Africa. This will be applied for deliveries as of December 1, 2007, or as contracts permit.
“This increase was necessary to ensure the sustainability of the business since ethylene oxide (EO) costs have risen faster and higher than predicted” said John Davidson, Product Marketing Manager.
Dow was the first company to commercialize the production of polyethylene glycols in 1940 and is still recognized around the world as a leader in the business. CARBOWAX™ and CARBOWAX™ SENTRY™ Polyethylene Glycols (PEGs) and Methoxypolyethylene Glycols (MPEGs) are a family of water soluble linear polymers formed by the addition reaction of ethylene oxide. They are used in applications such as adhesives, cosmetics/personal care, household products, pharmaceuticals, printing and inks, textiles, wood treating and more. Other polyglycol products from Dow are used in applications including foam control, lubricants, surfactants and other applications.
