Houston, TX - November 30, 2007
The Dow Chemical Company (“Dow”) has announced a $0.07/lb. price increase across North America for all polyolefin film products, effective January 1, 2008, or as soon thereafter as contracts permit.
"Rising raw material costs continue to make a significant impact on margins for polyolefin films,” said Luiz Stortini, global business director for SARAN™ Products and Specialty Films. “The price and availability of polyethylene – a key raw material in film production – is subject to various market dynamics. Current factors, such as strong global demand and unprecedented high costs of crude oil and ethane, have affected the cost to manufacture films. We remain committed to meeting the industry’s needs for high-quality polyolefin films.”
Film products affected by the price increase include all grades of DOW™ Adhesive Films (DAF Films), INTEGRAL™ Adhesive Films, DOW™ Low Density Films (LDF Films), TRENCHCOAT™ Protective Films, DOW™ Medical Packaging Films (MPF Films), and OPTICITE™ SQZ Polyolefin Label Films.
