Horgen, Switzerland - December 19, 2007
Dow Polyglycols and Surfactants has announced a 10 % increase for solid grades CARBOWAX™ SENTRY™ Polyethylene Glycol (PEG) (MW 1450, 3350, 4000 and 8000) and an increase of 5% for liquid PEG (MW 300, 400, 600, 1000) in Europe and India, Middle East and Africa. This will be applied for deliveries as of 1 January 2008, or as contracts permit.
“This increase is due to unprecedented increases in raw material costs, and the need to provide reinvestment economics,” said John Davidson, Product Marketing Manager.
Dow was the first company to commercialize the production of polyethylene glycols in 1940 and is still recognized around the world as a leader in the business. CARBOWAX™ and CARBOWAX™ SENTRY™ Polyethylene Glycols (PEGs) and Methoxypolyethylene Glycols (MPEGs) are a family of water soluble linear polymers formed by the addition reaction of ethylene oxide. They are used in applications such as adhesives, cosmetics/personal care, household products, pharmaceuticals, printing and inks, textiles, wood treating and more. Other polyglycol products from Dow are used in applications including foam control, lubricants, surfactants and other applications.
