Mark Henning Named General Manager for Dow Microbial Control

Mark Henning has been named the general manager of Dow Microbial Control, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company. In this role, Henning assumes leadership of the world’s leading Biocides business, combining Dow Biocides and Rohm and Haas Biocides.

“Our new company creates a global leader that will bring customers superior service, technologies and quality products to solve any microbial control problem,” said Henning. “We have been preparing for the acquisition of Rohm & Haas for several months to ensure that our integration is transparent to customers. I look forward to announcing our entire leadership team in the near future.”

Henning joined Dow in 1983 as an electrical engineer at the Joliet, Illinois manufacturing plant. In 1987, he moved to Polystyrene Films production at the Licking River Films Center in Hebron, Ohio. In 1993 Henning was named project manager for the SAP implementation for the Films and Engineered Laminates business, and became global supply chain leader for Films and Engineered Laminates in 1994 and global business director for Engineered Laminates in 1995. In 1998, Henning was promoted to global business director for Performance Foams in the Fabricated Products business.

Henning moved to Buffalo Grove, Illinois to join ANGUS Chemical Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company, as global business director, executive vice president, and chief operating officer in 2001. He assumed additional leadership responsibilities in 2004, as general manager of Dow Biocides, and as president and CEO of ANGUS Chemical Company.

Henning holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He is also a graduate of the Indiana University Kelley School of Business, Partnership for Management Development. He also earned a certificate of completion from the University of Oxford, Templeton College Advanced Management Programme.  Henning is a member of the University of Wisconsin, College of Engineering Industrial Advisory Board.
