New DOWFROST RVR™ Antifreeze for RVs
Just in time for recreational vehicle, spa, pool, and vacation home owners to prepare for winter temperatures, Dow has made one of its heat transfer fluids available to retail consumers in the US. Now sold in more than 3,800 Wal-Mart stores nationwide, in convenient, one-gallon containers, DOWFROST™ RVR seasonal anti-freeze is a ready-to-use, patent-pending solution that provides protection against water system damage when exposed to freezing temperatures. It is blended with a renewable resource and contains additional proprietary corrosion inhibitors that help prevent rusting of plumbing system components.
Safe for the Environment
Based on its ingredients, DOWFROST™ RVR is fully biodegradable and will not concentrate in ground or surface water. This is very important for any product that may be used by consumers in an RV or similar system that is near homes, water wells, and shore lines or, – in the case of boats – lakes, rivers or the ocean. Supplying an environmentally safe and renewable product like DOWFROST™ RVR antifreeze to consumers supports Dow’s 2015 Sustainability Goal to protect human health and the environment.
Improving User Safety
DOWFROST™ RVR improves user safety when compared to ethylene glycol-based products. It contains traditional USP propylene glycol and corrosion inhibitors, as well as a plant-derived product. DOWFROST™ RVR ingredients are generally regarded as safe, which is important whenever there is a possibility of drinking water contamination or a chance that it is accidentally spilled.
Petroleum Savings
Both Dow and Wal-Mart have very aggressive environmental goals, which include reduction of greenhouse gas release, energy conservation and the use of products with a minimum environmental impact over their entire life cycle.
