TERGITOL™ L Series Surfactants Offer Flexible Defoaming, Wetting, and Emulsifying Properties and Meet the European Detergent Regulation.

Midland, MI - April 17, 2006

The flexible properties TERGITOL™ L Series Nonionic Surfactants (202KB PDF) make them ideal for use in cleaning products, food processing, food washing, water treatment, metal working, paper processing, and other applications where defoaming, wetting and emulsifying is desired, and compliance with the European detergent regulation is essential.

TERGITOL L Surfactants pass OECD 301 ready biodegradability screening tests and comply with the biodegradability criteria as defined in the Detergent Regulation (EC) No 648/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 31 March 2004 on detergents. The ultimate biodegradability of these products, coupled with their low acute environmental and mammalian toxicity, means that these products carry no European hazard classification. Consequently, they are ideal for replacing non-compliant surfactants in formulations which will be impacted by the European Detergent Regulation.

TERGITOL L Series Surfactants offer excellent solvency, low foam characteristics, and broad compatibility with formulation additives. They also provide good thermal and chemical stability, and are miscible in various organic liquids. TERGITOL L Series Surfactants are liquid at room temperature and have little or no odor.

TERGITOL L Series surfactants available in North America include four biodegradable grades: TERGITOL L-61, TERGITOL L-62, TERGITOL L-64, and TERGITOL L-81. A fifth grade, TERGITOL L-101, does not comply with the European detergent regulation but is an efficient foam control agent in aqueous environments.
