Dow Announces Global Price Rise for HEA and HPA Monomers

Midland, MI - March 01, 2007

The Dow Chemical Company (“Dow”) has announced price increases for Hydroxyethyl Acrylate (HEA) and Hydroxypropyl Acrylate (HPA) monomers.

Effective April 1, 2007, or as contract terms allow, Dow will raise prices for each monomer by 30-50 percent in Asia Pacific and by 10-25 percent in all other world regions.

“Margins for this product line have deteriorated well below reinvestment economics, and that’s unacceptable for the long-term sustainability of our operations,” explained James Sloan, Dow product manager. “We simply must improve margins if we want to continue meeting customer needs well into the future.”

HEA and HPA are part of Dow’s line of functional monomers, which are used in a wide variety of high performance coating applications.
